Best Public Sector Tender Consultant (Hertfordshire): David Hatmil.
Backed by almost two decades of experience within the realm of Public Sector tenders, Tender Assist Ltd is a unique business that is reinvigorating the industry. Through working in collaboration with its clients, the company creates bespoke solutions that guarantee efficacy and guide the client throughout the process with ease. We speak to David Hatmil, Tender Assist Ltd’s Founder, to unveil more about the business.
David Hatmil has been working on Public Sector tenders since 2003, and since establishing Tender Assist Ltd, he has completed a considerable number of tenders for an array of business sectors. The company maintains an average of 30-40 clients at any one time, and there are no barriers to the types of organisations it works with, resulting in a highly diverse clientele. Such clients can be any business that
wishes to embark in Public Sector tendering.
Tender Assist Ltd’s mission is rather simple; it hopes to provide a customised solution to improve client opportunities to bid for and win Public Sector contracts. In order to fulfil this mission, the company abides by a stringent set of core values, which David states help ‘to create and deliver quality bid responses with integrity, honesty, and a keen sense of responsibility. These values have been maintained throughout
the life of the business.’
A significant contributor to the furthering of this mission is Tender Assist Ltd’s spectacular portfolio of products, which offer its clients a carefully constructed pathway through the Public Sector tendering process. From the formal release of the Contract Notice to the ultimate provision of the Contract Award, Tender Assist Ltd vows to walk with clients throughout each stage of the process, utilising its unique perspective of the industry and its understanding of the client’s organisation to cultivate the desired result.
‘My “unique selling point” is that I search for tender opportunities for my clients which means that they do not have to spend valuable time trawling through portals to source opportunities,’ David explains. ‘Daily, I receive opportunities relevant to my client base, decide on their suitability based on my client’s individual requirements and send on suitable ones for review by my client.’
Over the past 12 years, David has built Tender Assist Ltd into a company that exudes integrity, transparency, and sheer enthusiasm, further setting the company apart from its cohort. As the sole employee and Founder, Tender Assist Ltd’s reputation depends upon him, which means that it is imperative that David upholds and promotes excellent standards. As such, he became a member of CIPD (Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply) for a year so that he could gain expert advice, support, and mentoring. He is also in regular contact with senior procurement managers who provide advice on legislative updates and evolving trends in the sector. David adds, ‘the Public Sector tendering process has developed over the years to be a reliable source of business growth opportunities especially for SMEs. The initial effect of Covid-19 was a slowdown in tenders being published coupled with extended deadline submission dates. Since the return-to-work initiative took place, the tender process has returned to pre Covid-19 times.’
During the height of the pandemic, however, David’s wife was admitted as a patient to a local hospice. During visits, he quickly became aware of the supply issues surrounding PPE, and as a result, he resolved to fix the issue. He arranged for a consignment of free PPE to be delivered to the hospice by one of his clients, thus utilising his contacts and providing good to a worthy institution on the brink. As a result, Tender Assist Ltd now makes monthly donations to the hospice.
The company plans to continue helping organisations, charities, and of course, its clients. When asked about the future, David remarks, ‘I have just started my 13th year as Tender Assist and its business as usual. Having won this award will be a genuine boost to the business and hopefully I will be able to spread the word to more SMEs about the value and potential business growth in embarking on Public Sector tendering.’
